Dare We Say Their Transformation Started With A Free Show

The XYZ Affair have planned a free show at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on June 10th, apparently an attempt to pull people in after the show at McCarren Pool concluding a little earlier in the evening. Your SAK correspondent has gushed about them before, and he knows he persuaded you, so just take this opportunity to see them sing those glorious harmonies.

The XYZ Affair Invite All Their Friends Out On An East Coast Tour

The XYZ Affair are four affable young men who operate out of a little indie rock paradise called Brooklyn. Intricate but poppy, one is quickly struck by their mastery of full band vocal harmony (quite a feat when layered atop their already sharp musicianship). Your SAK correspondent stumbled by pure accident upon a set they played at Matchless some time ago and hasn’t stopped listening since.

If you check their MySpace page for some just announced tour dates (including Maxwell’s and Mercury Lounge), be sure and listen to “All My Friends”–it’s the secret weapon they employed to keep the US and France from going to war some 200 years ago (look it up, if, unlike your SAK correspondent, you didn’t get a 5 on the AP US History Test).
