Another Water-Free, Indie Rock Summer At The Pool

Those kids over Gothamist And Curbed, always keeping careful tabs on Williamsburg’s gentrification and how it affects YOU, are reporting that there will be another summer of care-free, swimsuit-clad shows over at McCarren Park Pool, though it is believed that ‘08 will be the final year.

Presumably, JellyNYC will keep booking free (occasionally RSVP-requested) shows on Sundays, and Live Nation will bring the rock on Wednesday and Saturday evenings, as they have in years past.

Which leaves only one question: how did Bowery Presents miss out on booking shows there? They (amicably?) share some other non-exclusive NYC venues with other booking companies, and I may not have been to Terminal 5 yet, but it seems any show booked there once the warm weather arrives would be better suited for the McCarren sunshine.

I AGREE! Terminal 5 is a dismal place to see a show. It feels like there should be political demonstrations there instead of rock shows. For the capacity, McCarren Pool is a much better venue.
